Air Fryer Rice Paper Samosas: Crispy & Delicious (Vegetarian)
Rice paper samosas are a delicious and healthy appetiser or light meal, cook in your airfryer and transform them into a crispy guilt free snack.
Ingredients
- 10-12 rice paper wrappers
- warm water for dipping
- 1 medium potato boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green peas fresh or frozen
- 1/4 cup chopped carrots
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint optional
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder optional
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil optional
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a pan, heat oil (optional) over medium heat. Add chopped onion and saute until softened.
- Add ginger and spices (garam masala, chili powder, turmeric) and cook for another minute, releasing the fragrance.
- Add boiled and mashed potato, chopped carrots, green peas, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Stir in chopped cilantro and mint (if using). Let the filling cool slightly.
- Assemble the Samosas:
- Prepare a shallow bowl with warm water.
- Dip one rice paper wrapper into the warm water for a few seconds, just until softened (but not soggy). Lay it flat on a plate.
- Place a spoonful of filling near the bottom edge of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom edge of the wrapper over the filling. Fold in the sides like a burrito, then tightly roll up from the bottom.
- Air Fry the Samosas:
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly brush or spray the air fryer basket with oil (optional).
- Arrange the samosas in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve:
- Enjoy your air-fried rice paper samosas hot, with your favorite dipping sauce like chutney or vegan yogurt dip.
Notes
Tips:
If the rice paper wrappers become too dry or difficult to fold, briefly dip them back in the warm water.
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket as this can prevent the samosas from crisping evenly. Cook them in batches if necessary.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to crisp them back up.
Feel free to experiment with different fillings! You can add cooked shredded chicken or tofu for a protein option, or use other vegetables like corn or bell peppers.
Kicker
You can adjust the amount of chilli powder for your desired spice level.
